More than 1,200 in attendance at event close
NEW YORK – January 26, 2011 – The 2011 Digital Book World Conference + EXPO closed today in New York. The 1,200 attendees left the event with renewed energy and a positive outlook for the future of publishing. Highlights from the closing day included panel discussions and presentations on consumer sales data, the children’s book marketplace, direct-to-consumer digital, and the library market. The 2012 Digital Book World Conference + EXPO will be held again at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers (New York) on January 23rd – 25th, 2012.
The presentation of data from the Consumer Attitudes and Buying Behavior research conducted by Digital Book World, VERSO, The Book Industry Study Group, Bowker, and iModerate was a program highlight. The data focused on the behavior of book and ebook buyers and a study of the ebook marketplace among users of multi-function devices.
The closing keynote by David Blansfield, F+W Media President, included the announcement of the new event from Digital Book World: StoryWorld Conference + Expo taking place October 31st – November 2nd, 2011 in San Francisco. StoryWorld will bring together professionals from the publishing, film, television, and gaming industries to examine planning, development, production, and execution strategies for storytelling across multiple contents.
For the second day, Digital Book World was a trending topic on Twitter, buoyed by the many in attendance, and those unable to attend, sharing highlights of the conference on Hashtag #dbw11.
