F+W International to publish David & Charles archive through print on demand collaboration with Ingram

D&CHeritageTemplate.inddEnthusiast content and ecommerce company F+W International today announced plans to publish from the archive of David & Charles books. The project will use print-on-demand solutions from Ingram. Books will appear under the imprint D&C Heritage and be available to the trade through Ingram’s global distribution channels that reach online and brick and mortar retailers in both hardback and paperback formats.

F+W acquired David & Charles in 2001, with the company having been originally founded in April 1961. David & Charles made its name publishing titles on Britain’s canals and railways, blending new books on the history of rail with reprinted articles of interest to enthusiasts.

In more recent years, F+W International has focused on craft and creative arts categories with new publishing and direct to consumer ecommerce businesses. “We are fortunate to own such an enviable archive of content across many categories, and to have found a willing partner in Ingram to help make this project happen. Inevitably this will be of particular interest to rail enthusiasts as so much of the material is in that category. We would in particular welcome any contact from authors or contributors to older David & Charles books to help us update any gaps in our records.” said Managing Director of F+W International, James Woollam.

F+W International are keen to hear from any previous David & Charles authors to update contact details and to arrange the payment of royalties. More specific details of titles in the program can be found online at: davidandcharlesheritage.tumblr.com.

“Ingram’s print-on-demand distribution solutions continue to give publishers unique opportunities to realise additional sales that would otherwise remain unfulfilled,” said David Taylor, Senior Vice President Content Acquisition, Ingram Content Group Inc., and Group Managing Director, Lightning Source UK. “These wonderful books will now be available for a whole new set of readers to enjoy; we are pleased to support F+W’s innovative content initiatives with our comprehensive services.”
