LOVELAND, CO (February 5, 2014)—Shahla Hebets, VP and Group Publisher for Interweave, a division of F+W Media, announced today that award-winning quilt artist Susan Brubaker Knapp will be the new host of Quilting ArtsTV, a national PBS television program where top quilt artists and modern quilters discuss and demonstrate ideas and techniques for contemporary quilting.
“I’ve been a guest on the show, and I tune in regularly to watch it. I adore it. What a wonderful opportunity and challenge to share my passion and love for this amazing world of art quilting,” says Brubaker Knapp. A well-known designer and author, Brubaker Knapp is also a celebrated teacher both nationally and internationally. She is well-respected throughout the quilting industry and reaches a diverse audience—from contemporary art quilters to traditional quilters.
“Working closely with Quilting Arts® Magazine editor Vivika Hansen DeNegre, I hope to continue the wonderful legacy that Quilting Arts founder and former Quilting Arts TV host Pokey Bolton started, and to take the show in new directions as the quilting world evolves. I’ll look forward to bringing back popular guests, and introducing viewers to fresh new faces in the worlds of art quilting, contemporary quilting and surface design,” promises Brubaker Knapp.
Quilting Arts Magazine editor Vivika Hansen DeNegre shares in the excitement by saying, “We are delighted to have Susan join us as the new host of Quilting Arts TV— Susan’s depth and breadth of knowledge of art quilting makes her uniquely suited for this position. She will continue to bring viewers the in-depth information about modern quilting, surface design, and embellishment they expect, while adding her own fresh perspective on the subjects.”
Working with familiar Quilting Arts TV guests as well as a new lineup of talented art quilters and modern quilters, authors, and designers, Brubaker Knapp will introduce a new chapter for the popular Interweave brand. “As an award-winning artist who teaches quilting across the country and around the world,“ said DeNegre, “Susan is well-known for her beautiful quilts and accessible teaching style. We are thrilled she will be sharing her gifts with the Quilting Arts TV audience.”
A frequent contributor to Quilting Arts Magazine, Brubaker Knapp has produced four DVDs/video downloads with Quilting Arts on topics from machine quilting and thread sketching to finishing techniques. She has frequently appeared as a guest on Quilting Arts TV, as well as on other TV and radio shows. Her newest magazine column will debut in the April/May 2014 issue of Quilting Arts Magazine. Additionally, Susan is the author of two books, and she writes a popular art quilting blog at her website, bluemoonriver.com.
Brubaker Knapp grew up in Mount Lebanon, Pa., a suburb of Pittsburgh. She has a B.A. in English and earned an M.A. in journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She lives in Mooresville, North Carolina, with her husband, Rob and their two daughters.
